hmm…I’m having trouble with my image loader thingy. Let’s try again. Here are more pictures starting with the north side of the house…
- When I look out my window what I usually see is an ugly metal building and our dilapidated old fence. Not very motivating when I am doing dishes. So…., I put up a bird feeder and hung a recycled sewing basket up with some creeping petunias, yet to bloom. I also put a humming bird feeder on the outside of the window, not seen in photo.
- Pots on our back porch. Basil and a bush cucumber in one and peas in the other.
- Here is my salad garden in a planter box. It has lettuc, spinach, swiss chard, basil, chives, and nasturium (for color and they are edible). I’m curious to see how this does.
- I’m calling this my rock garden. It has daisies, some kind of yellow daisy, some annuals, jalepeno peppers, bush cucumbers, and rosemary. It sits right at the bottom of the deck stairs.
- This is under the deck in the shade. The hosta comes up every year. I put in a creeping evergreen plant with tiny blue flowers that should spread and some vinca. It may be too shady, we’ll see.
- Here’s the plot by the scary old well/cistern. There is one bush cucumber a couple of annuals, another sweet william that should bloom this year, and I planted baby’s breath.
- Tomatoes, green beans, okra, cilantro, and dill, and probably some marigolds. I dug in some organic manure and hummus this year.
- And finally, the sunflower house. Based on a children’s book. The kids planted sunflowers seeds that when full grown should make a circle with a door way that all 4 kids should be able to fit inside, like a little house. I planted some cosmos there too. I hope it works. The squirrels seem pretty fond of sunflower seeds and seedlings!

Wow. You have been busy. I love how you’re combining plants.
And I love, love the Sunflower house, I hope it works out. That would be so fun!
